Number 1. Change Your Body Temperature
In a funk? Have writer's block? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Whatever mood you are in... you can change.. simply by drastically changing your body temperature. How does it work? First of all, the cold water is slightly shocking and can help to take your mind off of whatever is bothering you and changes your focus to something else (FREEZING). Next, it helps regulate hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline while balancing serotonin. It also constricts your blood vessels which then pumps more fresh blood to your core and brain bringing more oxygen and nutrition throughout your body. Finally, it's refreshing and invigorating and helps to change your perspective. In a bad mood? Jump in a pool or take a cold shower! I have been doing this for a few weeks and I swear it helps anxiety, stress, anger, and writer's block!
2. Feeling Anxious? Check yourself.
Did you know the number one cause of anxiety is Pride? Feeling anxious about work? Feeling anxiety being around certain people? Check yourself, and leave your pride at the door. Be humble. It's okay to be the weakest person in the room at something. Stop worrying about what people think of you. Most of the time people really aren't. And believe it or not... when it comes to your job... you are not responsible for everything that goes right or wrong or that may or may not happen. You are just one person. Don't put that much pressure on yourself! Be humble and feel better.
3. If you do things out of love, you can't mess up.
Think about it... as long as your efforts are out of love, even if things don't turn out how you thought they would, you didn't mess up, because the love is evident.
That's why mom's love their children's artwork. That's why even when things fail, the love behind the failure is still palpable. It's not the thought that counts, it's the love that counts.
4. If you want to survive a plane crash you have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first.
This is a great reminder that before we can help others, we need to be whole ourselves. If you can't feed yourself, what makes you think you can feed others? Take care of you, so that you are whole and healthy and can reach out to others. A side note.. don't put the oxygen mask on others just so you can tell people you did.. That's not love, that's ego. Do things out of love. And love yourself unconditionally. Love yourself when you're happy, love yourself when you're sad. Love yourself when you mess up. Love yourself when you are alone. If you can't love yourself, how can you show others love?
